To be a Marine Engineer, Marine Plumber or Marine Electrician with BAE Systems Surface Ships
(opens in a new window) you'll need at least three standard grades at Level 3 or above (or
equivalent) and they must include English, Maths and a craft and
design/technical subject.
To be a Marine Steelworker or Marine
Painter with BAE Systems Surface Ships you'll need at least three standard
grades at Level 4 or above (or equivalent) and they must include
English, Maths and a craft and design/technical subject.
Candidates
for BAE Systems Surface Ships Technician Apprenticeships require at least six
standard grades to Level 3 or above (or equivalent). These must
include English, Maths, Physics and three other science/technical
subjects and three higher grades at Level C or above in English, maths
and physics and a craft and design/technical subject or a relevant
engineering qualification.
If you want an engineering apprenticeship at Babcock Marine (opens in a new window), then you should consider enrolling on the NC Engineering Advantage course at Carnegie College (opens in a new window) or at the Technology 500 programme at Adam Smith College
(opens in a new window) which is offered by the Modern Apprenticeship Training Centre
(M.A.T.C.) at Mitchelston Industrial Estate in Kirkcaldy. If you
complete these courses there should be excellent engineering
opportunities with Babcock Marine (not to mention other engineering
companies in Fife) over the next few years.
