Something exciting is happening in Scotland. It's something you can be part of. Something that could really change your life. Something like this...
Scottish shipbuilding and ship-repair yards are dealing with their biggest order books for many years. They're designing, building and maintaining the complex warships and support vessels the Royal Navy and other overseas navies need for the 21st century. Current and future programmes include the world's most advanced air-defence destroyers, frigates and support vessels and the continuing upkeep of the Royal Navy's existing fleet of surface ships and submarines. There are also civil shipbuilding, boat-building and repair yards around the country that serve the commercial shipping industry.
The biggest programme will be the building of two aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy - the largest ships the Ministry of Defence has ever ordered. And much of that work will be done right here in Scotland.
The shipbuilding companies and their suppliers and subcontractors need to ensure that they have the most important resource of all: talented, skilled and well-trained engineers and craftsmen. Companies need the right people, and will train them well, providing skills that will last a lifetime.
